May the Light of Jesus Guide Us this Advent and Christmas Season.
"It's the most wonderful time of the year!" Eddie Pola & George Wyle wrote those words about the Christmas season where "there'll be much mistltoeing and hearts will be glowing," so "be of good cheer." I love this song. It makes me happy, and it brings memories of good times with the love of family and friends.
At the same time, I know there is much darkness in the world, and for many this may not be a wonderful time. It may just be continued difficult times with an unwelcome reminder that others are joyful. Some are dealing with trauma, stress, and fear, so during this time, Jesus is reminding us not to lose sight of who we are.
We are God’s beloved. We are made to be loved by God and one another. We are made to love God and one another, and we are made to join together in healing the hurts of the world. Our way is lit by "love God and love people".
During this season of darkness and of light, we are reminded to seek the light of Jesus, to stay true to who we are. We are reminded to be the light for others, helping and healing. Walking in the light of Jesus, this really can be the most wonderful time of the year.
