Featured SpeakerAuthor & Artist
Chris Wilson Born and raised in Washington D.C., Chris Wilson grew up with poverty, drug addiction, and gun violence as the everyday norm in his community. At the age of 17, he was charged with a crime, convicted, and sentenced to natural life in prison. It was during times of isolation in prison that he decided not only to turn his life around, but to make a difference in the lives of people who currently live in poverty-stricken communities similar to his childhood surroundings. Now a visual artist, author, film producer and social justice advocate, he splits his time between Baltimore, MD, and New York City supporting prison education and re-entry pathways, financial literacy, and art programs for returning citizens. His book, The Master Plan, continues to inspire people from all walks of life. |
