RESTORING & REBUILDING

Restoring & Rebuilding

By: lots houston

We are thrilled to announce that our Luncheon, usually scheduled for May, will be held on September 21 this year. After more than a year away from many of our LOTS friends, we are eager to welcome you back to an in-person event at the Junior League of Houston.

This year’s program will include a keynote address from Chris Wilson, a best selling author and visual artist, who has an amazing story of personal transformation and a powerful message of practical steps to take to help restore and rebuild lives.

The themes of restoring and rebuilding are particularly resonant after more than a year of challenges and changes. We hope Chris’ inspirational words will reach our Luncheon guests and the neighbors we serve. We have asked Chris to join us not just to speak at the Luncheon, but also to meet with our homeless and vulnerably-housed neighbors in several non-formal settings at LOTS and other agencies with whom we collaborate.

We sincerely hope you join us! We ask you to consider supporting us in this annual fundraiser as an underwriter of the event or through purchasing individual tickets. Whether you can attend or not, we thank you for your continued partnership with us through your prayers and other gifts in the work of sustaining as well as restoring and rebuilding lives.

About Chris Wilson

Picture
Born and raised in Washington D.C., Chris Wilson grew up with poverty, drug addiction, and gun violence as the everyday norm in his community. At the age of 17, he was charged with a crime, convicted, and sentenced to natural life in prison. It was during times of isolation in prison that he decided not only to turn his life around, but to make a difference in the lives of people who currently live in poverty-stricken communities similar to his childhood surroundings. Now a visual artist, author, film producer and social justice advocate, he splits his time between Baltimore, MD, and New York City supporting prison education and re-entry pathways, financial literacy, and art programs for returning citizens. His book, The Master Plan, continues to inspire people from all walks of life.

Combining life-saving relief with life-giving relationships.
